Hekari dominated domestic football in Papua New Guinea for more than a decade, winning a record nine National Soccer League titles. Through that run the club set the benchmark for consistency, going unbeaten across several seasons and fielding a squad that mixed the country’s best players with recruits from around the Pacific.
During the split from the National Soccer League, the club took back-to-back National Premier League championships in 2017 and 2018 — confirming its standing as the most successful club in the country’s history. That dominance built a loyal following and pushed the standard of competition higher across every other side in the league.
